Restoring the Canadian Army’s Historical Identity

A few years after the re-establishment of the Canadian Armed Forces traditional elemental names of Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Air Force, and the notable return of the executive curl for naval officer ranks, there seems to be a move afoot to restore additional traditional elements to the army.

A media backgrounder titled Restoring the Canadian Army’s historical identity was released July 8, 2013. It suggests changes are being proposed to restore to the Canadian Army items such as divisional nomenclature and patches, corps shoulder titles, army rank names, traditional insignia for officers, and the Canadian Army secondary badge from days of old.
